Cooking With Cheese

Published by Carolin on Tagged Appetizer

Wow, that is all I can say. I am going to make this blog short and sweet today. The reason I said wow is because I made a spread the other day and I think it could be my new best spread. I got this recipe from the Costco Connection. Whenever I receive this magazine the first thing I do is look at the recipes. Well this one caught my attention right away. One of the main ingredients is Imperial cheese. My house is never without Imperial cheese. We all love it. My sons could live off of it. So I got really excited when I saw this recipe.

It is so easy to make. I had people over the other night. It was right after dinner and we were just having a glass of wine or 2 and the kids were playing. Sure enough I start thinking I need to make a little snack. Well I remembered the Imperial cheese recipe. I checked it and I had all the ingredients and within 10 minutes if that I had a spread. Now in the recipe it says to have the cheeses at room temperature. I didn’t have time so I just put them in the microwave on defrost for a few seconds. Just to soften.

I recommend you make this recipe for the holidays or anytime of the year.

Old English Pub Spread

1pkg (250g) cream cheese softened
¼ cup butter, softened
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp horseradish
2-3 drops hot sauce
¼ tsp pepper
¼ c beer
1 clove garlic crushed
1 pkg (250g) Maclaren’s Imperial Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Blend until smooth and and easy to spread. Add more beer if necessary.

Chill for 1 hour. (I served it right away and it was great)

COOKING TIP OF THE DAY

Instead of using raw garlic try roasted garlic, use at least 4 cloves.
